Intellectual Property Policy
This policy explains how intellectual property is handled in the software and technology work we carry out.
Contents
1. Ownership of custom development
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, ownership of the custom software, code and other deliverables created specifically for you under a project transfers to you once the relevant work has been paid for in full.
2. Pre-existing intellectual property
We retain ownership of any pre-existing tools, frameworks, code libraries, methods or components that we developed before, or independently of, your project, even where they are used within work delivered to you. Where such components are included, you receive the right to use them as part of your delivered software.
3. Your materials
Any content, data, branding or materials you provide to us for use in a project remain your property. We do not claim ownership of customer-supplied materials.
4. Licensing and third-party components
Software we build may include third-party or open-source components, each governed by its own licence terms. Where relevant, we will identify significant third-party components used in your project.
5. Open-source components
Where open-source software is used, it remains subject to its original licence. Use of such components does not transfer ownership of the underlying open-source project to you or to us.
6. Reporting infringement
If you believe that work we have delivered infringes the intellectual property rights of a third party, or if you have any concern about intellectual property relating to a project, contact us at sales@examcertify.co.uk.
